National cycling charity CTC has officially become Cycling UK today.
The chief executive of the organization Paul Tuohy told that through their all new brand, Cycling UK would serve more people, from any background, relish the gift of cycling. Now, the organization can be found on the World Wide Web at cyclinguk.org.
According to reports, Tuohy told that for 138 years, they have championed a simple belief that cycling is a wonderful gift that should remain accessible and available to all. Today they remain the voice of the nation for cycling and the strongest force for progressive change.
Founded in Harrogate in 1878 as Bicycle Touring Club, the organization was afterwards renamed as Cyclists’ Touring Club in the year 1883. In the year 2011, members voted to change to charitable position, when the name ‘CTC, the national cycling charity’ was acquired.
When road.cc accounted on plans to rebrand as Cycling UK in February, David Murray, Head of Communications and Campaigns, told us that the new name was really just a reflection of what the charity was already doing.

Bjarne Riis has been reportedly suspended from Tinkoff-Saxo. The news has been confirmed by Oleg Tinkov, the Russian owner of the team.
As per the reports, the Tinkoff officials have notified all staff about Riis ‘suspension from the role of team manager, via email.
“Following the speculations and rumours going around regarding Riis’ suspension, Tinkoff team would prefer to clear that Bjarne is not involved with our activities any more”, read a statement released by one of the Tinkoff officials.
“However, it’s to note here that he wasn’t suspended given poor results or financial issues. Our team management is full confident about technical & performance team, the riders & staff & is at present looking to come up with the best way needed in this racing season. None of the decisions are taken & any final & formal decision on our team members, in case taken- would be communicated in due time.”
Riis was absent at Milano-San Remo & he was not found in Volta Catalunya. However, as per the statement of one Tinkoff official, the team manager was not scheduled to stay present at WorldTour race.
Tinkoff’s star rider Contador supported his squad chief, albeit he stressed that he had no idea regarding the suspension.”At present, the foremost thing for us is to understand the current situation as we are looking to understand the reason behind this decision”, noted Contador.
